BURIAL OF LATE Mrs Comfort Adanwo Okah (nee Akoku-Igwe), fondly called Mama Dubai-Arab

The Chairman, Officers, and all members of The Port Harcourt Link Club of Nigeria extend our heartfelt condolences to our esteemed Member and General Secretary, Linkite Emma Okah PhD., following the loss of his beloved Mother, Mrs Comfort Adanwo Okah (nee Akoku-Igwe), fondly called Mama Dubai-Arab

Upon learning of Mama Dubai’s passing, the PHLC condoled with the bereaved family to offer support and prayers.

The Service of Songs, which was held on Tuesday, 21st July, at the Port Harcourt Ecumenical Centre, had members of the Port Harcourt Link Club in attendance with other dignitaries.

The funeral service and burial, held on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, at Elele, Rivers State, was attended by a large number of PHLC members, Likreses, distinguished guests, community leaders, and well-wishers, reflecting deep respect and admiration for her life.

Mama was a lifelong Anglican who rededicated her life to God. She helped establish The King of Kings Anglican Church in Omopo, Elele, and celebrated the creation of the Anglican Diocese of Ikwerre. Though awarded the honorific Ezinne (Mother of the Year), she politely declined further church titles, preferring humble, quiet service.

She proved her absolute integrity as a meticulous accountant, serving for many years as a trustworthy custodian of community savings (Akawo). She was an outspoken advocate for widows, orphans, and women’s rights, notably defending a married woman’s right to choose her burial location.

“Mama Dubai, Arab Omeneta Elele” is the name she adopted after a successful trip to Dubai in 2010; she fell in love with the city’s culture and began wearing traditional Arabian attire, not as a religious shift, but purely out of admiration and humor. This playful fashion choice earned her the beloved nickname.

Known for her cheerful, outspoken nature, sharp wit, infectious laughter, and her fond habit of giving family members humorous nicknames.

Mama passed at the ripe age of 95. Indeed, a celebration of life.

Members of the PHLC actively participated in all funeral rites and activities, demonstrating solidarity and support for our brother and friend throughout the mourning period. The Chairman of the Port Harcourt Link Club of Nigeria, Alabo Opuene Batubo, led members in heartfelt prayers, invoking divine strength and comfort for the family of Linkite Emma Okah, urging divine guidance to help them cope with their grief with resilience and renewed hope.

May her soul find eternal peace.
